Marna Bell was born in Brooklyn, New York. She received a BFA from Pratt Institute and a MFA from Syracuse University in painting and photography. Marna has exhibited widely in New York State, in museums, galleries, and colleges. Her impressive exhibition history includes solo exhibitions at Clarion State College in Clarion, PA, the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse, NY, as well as receiving a New York State Council of the Arts Grant. Her huge landscape paintings of the past have similar elements to her photography of today. As one critic says, “she seems to be searching for that perfect point of equilibrium, the stillness at the center.”
Marna won “Best in Show” at the Regional Exhibition in Utica, New York in 2006. In March of 2007 she exhibited her landscape photography in a solo show at Syracuse University’s Warehouse Gallery. This was followed by shows at the Image City Photography Gallery in Rochester, the State of the Art Gallery in Ithaca and Syracuse Technology Garden. Her photography is currently being exhibited in the Manhattan Arts’ International On-line Show entitled “The Healing Power of Art”, where she won “Best in Photography.”
She currently lives in Syracuse with her husband, son, two cats and a dog.
